Martin Kollár (1971) was selected for the final for a series of photographs continuing his cycle created for a Report on the State of the Country of the Institute for Public Affairs in 2001. The view it represents is different from typical photographic documentation with a fixed thematic area and aim. Kollár takes on neither the role of a promoter, nor that of a critic of reality; he selects moments identifying an individual with his/her environment in a discreet manner. Captured situations are pluralistic, free from being focused merely on one social group; they do not take advantage of rarity or uniqueness, and denominate the seen and experienced present days.
