Petra Feriancová works in the intentions of post-production. Within her work, manipulations of literary text, pictorial travel notes as well as transmutations of artistic patterns can be found. Feriancová as an author often presents herself in her projects more as an “entrepreneur” of something that has been experienced and seen, something “already existent”, than as a creator of something “new”. The mentioned post-production relates to that, but it is also connected to the foucauldian-barthesian dissolving of the authorial subject, because in the end, others often participate on her work. Aside from some sort of reconfiguration of the “existent”, which is one position of her work, she collects „images“, shots where the story is dominant. Images which she “uncovers” communicate with her aim to discover, name, sort, archive, to “read” retroactively. She is also motivated by the visualization of the spoken, the materialization of the ephemeral, the process of time and the successive corporeality of the work in it. She often works with a concrete place, so she is also fond of installations created in unity with the genius loci of the given space. Feriancová applies a certain clue of mediating the discovered images and their shift – output towards the viewer.

Through the small-format slide-projections (A4 format) Insomnia, Amnesia and Endless, (all from 2008) Petra Feriancová presents archives of recollections, memories, some sort of intimate aspects in the form of diary records. Here, the key is not – as it might seem at first glance – the moment of intimacy of the presented works, but the form of presentation itself. This is the focal point of Feriancová’s research - how to present the images. Therefore, the exhibited works have a common integrating subheading the possibilities of use – with regard to the aim of the author, the possibility of choice and the possibility of narration with limited time. All artworks are limited by an A4 output in 2D.
