Ján Šicko
finalist Oskar Cepan Award , 2008
The work of Ján Šicko merges the starting points of graphic design with the language of new media in contemporary art in an original way. Besides the numerous outputs in the field of graphic design and visual communication, he also works on the research of free work, which in his case usually builds upon authorial software and adaptations of original analogue processes, which he manipulates by using digital technologies. In his multimedia projects he creates authorial computer programmes, whose output is an image generated in real time for theatrical, dance or musical performances (Martin Crimp - Pokusy o její život, 2002; Mathew Hawkins - Love in Bilingual Motion, 2004; Wilsonic 2005 etc.) His interactive outputs impulsively develop the communication and creativity of the viewer.
