Artist statement / about artist Artist resume News from the artist

Kamen Stoyanov focuses on two major aspects throughout his artistic work:
First the criticism of hegemonic notions of culture and secondly the question of
how these notions are manifested in architectural, urban, and medial representations.
Stoyanov’s attention is therefore geared towards motives that destabilize
associations and concepts of coherent cultural orders. These orders have to be
either invalidated or the meaning of them has to be changed in the course of
historical displacement.
Kamen Stoyanov also deals with the question of unauthorised utilisation of public
space as well as the adherent reconstruction of these spaces. He is particularly
interested in the problems of migration, as well as in the contemporary forms of
nomadism.
Further issues dealt within his work touch upon the aspiration for participation in
a free market economy as well as the consequential and essential upward movement
of the public’s attention.
