Tomaš Džadoň was born in Poprad. He studied in Poland, at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and at the Art Academy in Prague. At the moment he is a postgraduate student at AFAD Bratislava, in the studio of Monogramista T.D. One area of his work is the Slovak typical/traditional. The wooden cottage for him represents the heritage of the past, a world long since gone, and bacon, a symbol associated home, evokes comfort, romance and the ideal state. They have become artistic material for him, which, due their strong symbolism, refer to local mythologies. Another area of his work focus on another kind of typical symbol of Slovak past and present reality: panel-blockhouse architecture. He defines his own position between these two poles as tentative and uncertain. Džadoň works with space, creating spatial installations in situ, through which new situations emerge and directly impinge upon the viewer’s perceptions. By reflecting these various layers, Džadoň speaks to the historic and personal memory of the individual.
