Tomas Dzadon
finalist Jindřich Chalupecký Award , 2009
Works by Tomas Dzadon are almost exclusively monothematical, related to his life-long understanding of architecture and its social aspects. He had grown up in a little town in Slovakia and was therefore influenced by the contrast between the intimate folk architecture and the impersonal prefabs. In his monumental installations he thematizes the intimacy of human space by combining unrelated elements and using authentic measurements and materials. The viewer is confronted with Džadoň's objects directly through physical contact, but the artist also works with movement, light and smell.
