Drawing represents the basic means of artistic expression of Petra Herotova. Her uncomplicated style, not unsimilar to art brut, is related to the artist's need to regularly record feelings and situations. She creates continuous cycles out of various long-term drawings, maps, comics, plans and graphs. Herotova pays attention to everyday banality, everyday stories and is interested in confronting the world of everyday life with artistic praxis that is inaccessible for most of the people. Apart from her responses to her surroundings, she focuses on appropriation of other artists' strategies. The problem of identity, be it that of an artist or human being, plays a fundamental role in her art.
